Telling Tales

Rumors” is a farcical play by American playwright and screenwriter Neil Simon in two acts. Set in Palisades, it shows a dinner party gone topsy-turvy. It will be brought on stage on May 2 at Arghanoon Mansion.

One of Simon’s most celebrated comedies, it depicts Charley and Myra Brock who are celebrating their 10th anniversary and have invited all their good friends. Chris and Ken Gorman are the first ones to arrive. They show up only to find that Myra is missing and Charley has accidentally shot himself in the ear. Charley is unconscious and so unable to tell them what has happened.

Charley is the deputy mayor of New York City and, hoping to avoid a scandal, Ken and Chris go about covering up what they assume to be the truth of the situation. As the other guests arrive—Claire and Len Ganz, Ernie and Cookie Cusack, and Cassie and Glenn Cooper—the story of Charley and Myra’s anniversary evening unravels. At the end, all the guests are complicit in a cover-up that no one even really understands, but the fantastical events of the evening are hilarious.

Directed by Behnam Khandan, the play is performed by Donya Mohseni, Armin Wallie, Razie Shafiei, Farnam Mashkouri, Mahsa Mirkazemi, Mojtaba Alizadeh, Narges Shiri, Varojan Farhadian and Reza Hosseini, Tiwall wrote.

The play will run through May 2 at No. 1, Ziba Alley, on Neauphle-le-Chateau Street, close to Valiasr Street.
