The 8th Beijing International Film Festival concluded on April 22 announcing the winners with Iranian actress Mina Sadati receiving the best supporting actress award for her performance in ‘Searing Summer’ directed by Ebrahim Irajzad.
In the valedictory ceremony attended by Sadati, Irajzad and Yasna Mir-Tahmasb, also a cast member, Sadati dedicated her award to all the women of her homeland, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.
The screenplay, written by Payam Karami, gives a depiction of the problems of class segregation as well as the problems of women in modern Iran.
It is about a woman who wants a divorce but knows she will not be able to get custody of her six-year-old daughter if she separates. So, unbeknown to her husband, she takes her daughter and moves to an unknown location in Tehran. Parinaz Izadyar, Saber Abar and Ali Mosaffa are also in the cast.
At 16th Dhaka International Film Festival in January, the best actress award was jointly given to Sadati and Izadyar.
Since its inception in 2011, Beijing International Film Festival has been a platform to showcase both domestic and foreign films.
