Prominent translator, researcher and lexicographer Gholam Hossein Sadri Afshar passed away on Tuesday Tehran. He was 84.
Born in 1935 in Urmia, West Azarbaijan Province, Sadri Afshar tried several professions after secondary school and finally took up culture. He started with lexicography in 1966 at the Culture Foundation of Iran (currently known as Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies, affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology), ISNA wrote on its Persian website.
The books, ‘Contemporary Persian Dictionary’, ‘Encyclopedia of Traditional Occupations’ and ‘Technical Glossary’, are among his published works. He also released three books of his own poems.
