The public relations office of the 36th Fajr International Film Festival has announced the names of three Iranian films to be screened in the Cup of Divination (Festival of Festivals) section.

Eleven movies from Argentina, Spain, Austria, Lithuania, France, Poland, Romania, Belgium, Bosnia and South Korea are also programmed for the section, the festival website reported.

‘Dressage’ directed by Pooya Badkoobeh, ‘Hendi & Hormoz’ written, directed and produced by Abbas Amini, and ‘Walking on String’ written and directed by Ahmadreza Motamedi are the three Iranian films in the lineup.

Badkoobeh’s feature tells the story of Golsa, a 16-year-old girl living with her family in a small town near Tehran. She spends most of her time hanging out with a group of friends who encourage her to do something illegal which results in unforeseen consequences.

It won the special mention of Jury at the Generation 14 Plus section of Berlinale in Germany.  Amini’s second feature film centers on Hendi and Hormoz, a young couple, who marry according to the tradition of their island in the Persian Gulf, Hormoz, at a young age. But life together becomes increasingly perilous as they go on.

The director’s debut feature film ‘Valderama’ was screened at the 2016 Berlinale Generation section. ‘Walking on String’ is about an underground music band whose only dream is to have a concert overseas They prepare for everything and intend to leave the country legally, But problems occur and things take a different turn.

Presided by film writer and director Reza Mirkarimi, the festival will be held at Tehran’s Charsou Cineplex, April 19-27.
