Conference on Attar of Nishabur

Tehran and Nishabur, a city in Khorasan Razavi Province, will host the First International Conference on Persian Language and Iranian-Islamic Thoughts.
For the first edition of the event, slated for April 14 in Nishabur and April 16 in Tehran, experts will discuss the works, life and thoughts of the Persian poet, theoretician on Sufism and hagiographer, Attar of Nishabur (1145-1221), Iran’s Book News Agency reported.
Attar is famous for his short lyrics with themes of passion and mysticism. Attar, who lived in Nishabur until his death, was a brilliant storyteller and poet in both lyric and epic forms. His ideas span wide and far over Persian mysticism and religious philosophy and his writings were sources of inspiration for later literati including Rumi and Hafez.
