Life of Former British Monarch

Tandis Publishing, based in Tehran has released a Persian rendering of the bestselling work of British author Alison Weir.

The Marriage Game: A Novel of Queen Elizabeth I was originally published by one of the major publishers in the US, Ballantine Books, in 2014.

It has been translated into Persian by Afaq Zargarian and printed in 540 pages, Mehr News Agency reported.

Acclaimed author Weir, in the book, tells of the life of the former monarch who  ruled England and Ireland from November 1558 until her death in March  1603.

It was expected that Elizabeth Tudor, who became queen at the age of 25, would marry and produce an heir to continue the Tudor line but she never did, thus she is sometimes called the Virgin Queen.

She is considered by many to be the greatest monarch in English history as she ruled alone for nearly half a century.
