Feature film ‘Blockage,’ a 2016 social drama directed by Mohsen Qaraei, received Special Mention from the jury of 2018 Sofia International Film Festival held March 7-18 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The intense drama is about street vendors and a corrupt officer in charge of controlling them. It entered the International Competition of the 22nd SIFF, won no prize but was commended by the festival’s jury, Iraneconomist.com reported.
‘Blockage’ depicts a man named Qasem working for Tehran Municipality. His job is to prevent vendors from selling on the crowded sidewalks. However, he is to be fired because of making covert deals with selected vendors.
Hamed Behdad, Baran Kosari, Mohsen Kiaei, Nader Fallah and Giti Qasemi are in the cast.
