'Shelter', a social play by Ehsas-e Abi (blue emotion) theater group, is currently being performed at Tehran's Iranshahr Hall to raise fund for the homeless.
"Written by Sanaz Bayan, the story depicts a slice of real life of the homeless, especially women and kids," Amin Miri, the director of the play, said. All the proceeds will go to the homeless via Khaneh Khorshid Institution. A bank account number has also been announced for those willing to donate to the people in need. In-kind donations are also welcome.
"The tickets are being offered at low prices, providing an opportunity for people from all walks of life to take part in the humanitarian movement," Miri said.
"The performance might be staged in other cities, including Zahedan, Isfahan, Rasht and Mashhad, if it's received well by the society."
The play has won awards at the 14th Actor's Celebration (last May) and 36th Fajr International Theater Festival in February. Its story was also nominated for the best performance of the year by Iranian Association of Theater Critics, ISNA reported.
Elnaz Esmaeilzadegan, Bahar Etemad, Sara Banki, Behnoush Pat, Sanaz Pourdashti, Setareh Jabbari, Sajedeh Hamidi, Sorour Khosravani and Niloufar Darbandi are in the cast.
The play will run until March 16 at the venue located at Iranian Artists Forum, southern side of Art Garden, North Mousavi St. on Taleqani Avenue.
