Handicrafts of southwest Iranian province of Khuzestan will go on show at the International Handicrafts Trade Fair of Florence, Italy, from April 21-May 1. The fair will feature handicrafts and arts, apart from hosting a number of master craftsmen. According to the Public Relations Office of Khuzestan’s branch of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran, vitreous enamel, jajim (a loosely woven woolen material), kilim (a type of coarse carpet), silvers and colorfully decorated wicker-works are some of the many handicrafts of Khuzestan Province, Mehr News Agency reported. Also called porcelain enamel, vitreous enamel is made by fusing powdered glass on to a substrate by firing. The powder melts, flows and hardens into a smooth, durable vitreous coating.
