An art gallery in Tehran is playing host to a group exhibition of visual arts and will set aside part of its returns for the quake-stricken people of Kermanshah.
A 7.3-magnitude quake shook the western province of Kermanshah and the regions bordering Iraq last November, killing over 500 people, injuring thousands and displacing large numbers, many of whom are still living in temporary shelters.
A diverse collection of paintings and statues are on display at the current exhibit titled ‘New Day’ at the newly established ‘Not Gallery’ located at No. 3, Shabnam Alley, Qaem-Maqam Street, near 7-Tir Square. The artworks will remain on view till March 12, Mehr News Agency reported.
“The exhibition includes eight statues and over 70 paintings, mostly in small dimensions. They are created by a total of 39 artists,” director of the gallery, Fereydoun Farboud, said.
“The statues are made of bronze and ceramics. There are also some drawings among the works. The young and veteran participants of the exhibit are all acclaimed artists. Their works are presented at affordable prices ranging between 1.5 million rials ($33) and 60 million rials ($1,339).
Among the artists participating at the exhibit are painters Farbod Morshedzadeh, Delaram Ashtiani, Niloufar Qaderinejad, Houman Foulad-Qalam, Flora Feyzbakhsh, Elham Fatemi, Reza Samadian, Nazanin Rajabdoust, Farnaz Akhlaqi and Mojdeh Atrak, painter and sketch artist Mohammad Reza Ahmadi-Monfared, painter, sculptor and installation artist Farid Jafari and sculptor Samira Darya.
