Iran and Egypt won the first position in recitation and memorization categories respectively, at the 5th International Holy Qur’an Competition for Muslim Students which concluded on Sunday night.

The jury of the contest selected Mohamed Abdul Aziz Niyazi from Egypt as the top contestant in memorization while Mohammad-Javad Mohammadi-Majd from Iran came second followed by Lebanese Mahmoud el-Kofri, who came third.

In the recitation category, Iranian Vahid Khazaei took home the top prize while Egypt and Iraq came second and third respectively, Iqna reported.

The 5th edition of the international Qur’anic event was attended by 66 Qur’an memorizers and reciters from 47 countries.

Tehran’s Milad Tower hosted the gathering of Muslim world students for four days.
