‘Pahlavan Goudarz’ Trilogy

‘Pahlavan Goudarz’ trilogy penned by Majid Shafiei and printed by Monadi Tarbiat Cultural Institute has recently come out.
The word ‘Pahlavan’ is a a combination of the English words ‘champion’ and ‘hero’ that can designate someone really strong. Yet the strength is not measured physically only; a Pahlavan is expected to go through many physical and spiritual difficulties and come out healthy and wise.
The three titles include ‘Pahlavan Goudarz and Amnesia Giant’, ‘Pahlavan Goudarz and Flying Carpet’ and ‘Pahlavan Goudarz and Fatal Nightmare’. They are epic stories depicting a series of events following the death of ‘Rostam’, the main character of Shahnameh (The Great Book) written by celebrated Persian poet Ferdowsi (940-1020).The fictional character, Pahlavan Goudarz, is created by Shafei and he is not mentioned in Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh.
