Hamlet and Don Quixote at City Theater

City Theater in Tehran will be staging the play ‘Hamlet and Don Quixote’ from February 25. Written by the Armenian dramatist Zorayr Khalapyan in 2003, the play has been translated into Persian by Andranik Khochumian, and will be brought on stage by theater director Tajbakhsh Fanaeeian, ISNA reported. The tragicomedy is about one of the adventures of Don Quixote, a fictional character originally created by Spanish novelist Miguel de Cervantes. In the play Don Quixote who has lost his wit as a result of reading tales of chivalry decides to become a knight errant. Accompanied by his faithful squire Sancho Panza, he meets Hamlet, the main character of Shakespeare’s namesake play. Siamak Safari, Behnam Tashakor, Jamshid Jahanzadeh, Amir Karbalaei and Kazem Balouchi are in the cast.
