Socratic Trip

A Socratic trip to four art galleries in Tehran with two coffee interludes is organized by Tiwall.

The pond in front of Iranian Artists Forum at Artists Park is the rendezvous. Participants will converge there on Friday 4 pm and will be joined by sociologist Amir Khorasani. He will lead the group and engage them in conversations and discourses, following the Socratic method whereby continual questions are asked until a contradiction is sighted.

First to be visited is Assar Gallery where Alireza Masoumi’s paintings are hung. The gallery is just across the street that runs south of the Artists Park.

The next stop is on the western flank of the park. Hepta Art Gallery is hosting a group exhibition of collage and installation arts titled ‘Eternal Suffocation.’ Visitors will have a break after the show. A friendly conversation will follow at a nearby café. Half an hour should refresh them for the visit to Lajevardi Foundation, a few blocks north, and see the paintings, drawings and posters created by Babak Etminani.

The last venue on the itinerary will be Gallery A, a few meters from Lajevardi Foundation. The gallery is showing artworks by provincial artists and has a café where the conversations will conclude.

The tour will end at 8 pm. More information is available at Tiwall.com.
