Mohammad Mir-Ali Akbari has brought on stage a theatrical work about the life of French-Polish filmmaker Roman Polanski. Titled ‘Polanski’, the play written by Akbari, narrates the struggles of the acclaimed director during his lifetime. Having made films in Poland, Britain, France and the US, Polanski is considered one of the few truly international filmmakers, IRNA reported. Polanski, 84, was born in Paris. Along with his parents, he went to Poland in 1936. His first feature-length film ‘Knife in the Water’ (1962) was made in Poland and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2003, he won the Oscar for Best Director for his film ‘The Pianist’. ‘Repulsion’ (1965), ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ (1968) and ‘China Town’ (1974) are among his notable works. There are 30 actors performing in Akbari’s play including Ali Najafi, Arash Falahatpisheh, Tino Salehi, Ayeh Kianpour, Parisa Mohammadi, Majid Ahangaran, Siamak Adib, Kambiz Monsef, Zari Karimi and Mehdi Mohammadi. The performance will run through February 19 at Paliz Theater House located at No. 69, Sepand St., Azodi St., Karimkhan Ave.
