Davoudi Preparing for Last Solo Photo Exhibition

Photojournalist and documentarian Nader Davoudi, chief editor of Ghahveh (literally meaning coffee) monthly magazine, will present a review on 25 years of his experience in photography.
At the solo exhibit, opening on February 2, Davoudi will show a collection of photos he has taken in different stages of his life and career. The photos are in diverse genres and taken with various techniques in different parts of the world.
So far Davoudi has held 10 solo photo exhibits. To be hosted by e1 Art Gallery, the upcoming exhibit, including a total of 30 black-and-white photographs, will be Davoudi’s last solo show in photography, Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. He is going to focus more on journalism.
The 55-year-old is an award-winning Iranian photojournalist. For the past two decades, he has been working on producing ethnographically detailed works documenting contemporary Iranian history.
He is the first Iranian sport photographer to cover the FIFA World Cup (in 1994, the US) and his photo of Bulgarian footballer Yordan Lechkov’s goal against Germany won him the best sport picture of the year award in the annual Iranian sport’s photo contest.
His coverage of the 12th Asian Games (1994 Japan) is a valuable  collection of an Asian tournament, while the 1994, 1998 & 2006 World Cups in the US, France and Germany respectively are his most important international sport occasions.
In 2000, Davoudi covered the Sydney Olympic Games which resulted in publishing a book entitled Sydney 2000. The book covers different nationalities in exceptional moments of happiness and excitement. He is a founding member of The International Soccer Cartoon Contest which was held in 1999 for the first time.
He has published four books, namely ‘Iran on its Way to the World Cup’, ‘A Simple Event’, ‘Iranian Artifacts in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’, and ‘Sydney 2000’ as both writer and editor.
His documentary ‘13 and a Half’ co-directed with Abbas Ahmadi was premiered at the 25th Vancouver International Film Festival in 2006.
Davoudi’s last photo show will end on February 16 at e1 Gallery, located at No. 1, Hamid Dead-end, Lesani Alley, Jebheh St., Mahdieh St., Elahiyeh neighborhood.
