Jaleh Art Gallery in Tehran will hold a group video art exhibition to mark its first founding anniversary, Curated by Fereshteh Alamshah, the exhibit will open on Friday and display the videos of Setareh Hosseini, Atefeh Khas, Elika Zarei, Farzaneh Soleimani, Hajar Komeili, Atefeh Mahdiani as well as Alamshah, ISNA reported. All the videos have one thing in common -- they deal with the celebrated Persian poet Hafez (1315-1390). Hafez-e Shirazi, known as Hafez, was born and grew up in Shiraz. He memorized the Qur’an at an early age. His influence in the lives of Persian speakers can be found in the recurrent use of his poems in Persian traditional music, visual art and Persian calligraphy. His verses are used as axioms and sayings and often mentioned by intellectuals, public speakers, orators, teachers, lecturers, parents, seniors in the home and religious preachers at the pulpit in Iran. Divan-e Hafez (collection of his poems) is regarded as a pinnacle of Persian literature and is found in almost all Iranian homes. His life and poems have been the subject of analysis, commentary and interpretation, influencing post-14th century Persian writings more than any other author. Jaleh Art Gallery, located at No.3, Noshahr Alley, Iranshahr Street, will host the artworks through February 14.
