‘Blockage’ Among Entries for Rotterdam Film Festival

Mohsen Qaraei’s film ‘Blockage’ is to make its third International appearance at the 47th International Film Festival Rotterdam, January 24-February 8 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The Iranian film will compete in the Bright Future section, ISCA News reported.

Blockage is the story of Qasem, a temporary worker at Tehran Municipality who cracks down on street vendors in Tehran. However, he is to be fired because of some covert deals with selected vendors.

The film won the best film prize at the New Currents section of the 22nd Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.  It has also been nominated for six awards in the second Malaysia International Film Festival, February 25-March 3.

Since 2009, Bright Future has been IFFR’s program dedicated to young and emerging film talent with their own style and vision, often presenting their films for the first time to the international audience.
