A book of poems by Iranian modern poets translated in English was unveiled at a ceremony at Iran’s pavilion at the New Delhi World Book Fair, January 6-14.
‘Modern Poetry of Iran’, released by Indian publication house RUPA, is an anthology of more than 85 acclaimed works of renowned Iranian poets including Nima Yushij (1895-1960).
Compiled by Mohammad Javad Aseman, Mostafa Alipour and Alireza Qazeh, the book was translated into English by Aziz Mahdi, a Persian scholar in India, Mehr News Agency reported.
Delhi-based Mahdi is a poet, writer and translator. He received his PhD in Persian language and literature from University of Tehran. An expert on the Indo-Iranian linkages in literature and culture, he taught at the Department of Indian Studies, University of Tehran, for five years. Mahdi has authored eight books and translated ten titles into Hindi, English and Urdu.
