According to the latest ranking of 180 Iranian newspapers released by the General Administration of Local Press and News Agencies affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Financial Tribune is ranked 35th on the list and placed over and above the other four English-language dailies.

Compared to the last year's list in which the Tribune came in the 39th position in the overall ranking and second among English-language papers, the country’s first English economic daily published by the private sector has improved four and one spots respectively.

Exclusive interviews, exclusive headlines, citations by domestic and international news outlets and social media presence were some of the criteria used for assessing participants.

The Tribune covers a wide gamut of economic, political, social and cultural issues. However, the primary focus of the newspaper is on the economy and commerce.  The paper believes in and is committed to promoting private enterprise and reducing the state’s role in the economy.

At the top of the listing is Hamshahri, the Persian-language newspaper published by the Tehran Municipality. The second is Donya-e-Eqtesad, a private economic daily and a sister publication of the Financial Tribune.

Regarding economic newspapers and those published by the private sector, Donya-e-Eqtesad stands first in both categories.

Alireza Bakhtiari is owner and managing director of the Financial Tribune and Donya-e-Eqtesad.
