Zhiwaar Tour has invited history enthusiasts to a tour of an old street in downtown Tehran on January 11.
The old, stone-paved street is called 30-Tir (Si-e Tir). Its northern end meets Jomhouri Street and to the south, near the National Museum, it is bounded by Imam Khomeini Street.
A walk in 30-Tir is like browsing through the history of the capital. The intersection of Hafez and Neauphle-le-Chateau streets is where the walk begins at 9 am.
It takes less than an hour to walk from one end of the street to the other, but there is a story behind every block, so the tour will run till noon.
The ancient street, formerly called Qavam-o-Saltaneh, is home to three popular museums, namely Abgineh Museum (museum of glassware and ceramic), the National Museum and the Iran Science and Technology Museum.
It also has religious significance as it hosts Hazrat-e Ebrahim Mosque, St. Mary’s Evangelical Church, St. Peter’s Church, Haim Synagogue and the Zoroastrian Temple Adorian.
