Prolific cartoonist and graphic designer Kambiz Derambakhsh, 75, has brought a selection of his works to a solo exhibition at Seyhoun Art Gallery.

Titled ‘Positive Energy,’ the exhibit includes 38 caricatures expected to elicit positive feelings among visitors. Derambakhsh has handpicked the cartoons from among his 500 works.

The works are drawn on A3 sheets (29.7cmx42cm). They are a series of sequential arts he created recently, Honaronline reported.

Topics of the cartoons are strange, unrealistic and full of surprises. Although most of his works are in black and white, there also are some collage works in color. “Unless absolutely necessary, I don’t use colors in my drawings,” Derambakhsh has been quoted as saying.

About the name of his show, he notes that it is derived from what people and his friends often say when they come to his exhibitions. “We’re getting positive vibes,” they say.

His familiar disposition, a stout man in a raincoat, appears again in the cartoons. He, along with the sun, tree, butterfly and flower make up the cartoonist’s cast of choice.

The venue is located at No. 11, 4th Street, Vozara Street. Positive Energy will close on January 10.
