Philharmonic Orchestra

Tehran Philharmonic Orchestra will hold a concert on Monday at Azadi Tower located at Azadi Square, west of Tehran.

Conducted by Arash Guran, the group consists of 80 musicians, Iranconcert reported.

A full-size orchestra (about 100 musicians) may sometimes be called a symphony orchestra or philharmonic orchestra, which do not necessarily indicate any special difference in either the instrumental constitution or role of the orchestra.

Both terms philharmonic and symphony basically mean “harmonious music” and are used as namesake to distinguish different ensembles based in the same city (for instance, the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra).
