Iranian architect Arezou Zare’dar is among winners of the students section of American Architecture Prize. According to the event’s website, where the winners was announced recently, Zare’dar’s winning design is an educational complex for students with special needs (physically or mentally challenged) located within Tehran’s District 22.

“The classes are designed in a way that allow removal of a shared wall to join two classrooms in case the number of students increases,” Zare’dar said about her work, Honaronline reported.

All the classes are connected to a private yard of their own, and all the yards have access to a public yard located in the center, which is basically built for cars, she added.

Having separate yards for each classroom and separating the car access from the playing area helps in reducing student vulnerability. Moreover, the independent activity of one class will not be disturbed by another class.

The American Architecture Prize was founded in Chicago by the Chicago Athenaeum (International Museum of Architecture and Design).
