A collection of old film billboards is on show at Salam Art Gallery in Tehran.
Ali Bakhtiari, owner of the collection, says he has been gathering old graphic designs including cinema billboards for ten years. “I have put together this collection from theater owners. The oldest pieces in this collection date back to 1963 while the latest to 2002,” Honaronline reported him as saying.
“In the past there was no graphic museums or cinema museums like today to help save and store them. As a result old billboards in large numbers have been destroyed and lost,” he said.
Bakhtiari said the first such exhibit was held by veteran visual artist Fereydoun Ave, 72, almost half a century ago.
Located on the first floor of Sam Center Building, Fayazi St., Vali-e-Asr St., the works will be on show through January 22.
