Vahdat to Host Bushehr Singers

Lian music ensemble will perform folk music from their native region in Bushehr, south Iran, on December 31 and January 1 at Vahdat Hall.

A selection of exciting ethnic pieces will be played. Lian comprises ten musicians. Aakaa Safavi and Aklou Faramarzi will sing at the concert.

Led by the ney-anban (bagpipe) virtuoso and music researcher Mohsen Sharifian, 42, the band will play Bushehri music which is an offshoot of ‘bandari’ (literally meaning ‘of the port’) music, common in the southern coastal areas around the Persian Gulf. The band has performed in many countries from the US to the Far East.
