Auction of Old, Contemporary Calligraphy by Baran Gallery

Tarane-Baran Art Gallery in Tehran is organizing the second edition of Baran Auction, an event where works by masters of Persian calligraphy will go under the hammer.
The exhibition-cum-sale will open on December 19 at Sam Center on Fereshteh Street. Over 50 calligraphies will be on auction, Honaronline reported.
One of oldest works is in kufic script and dates back 1,300 years, director of the auction Mahboubeh Kazemi said, adding that the works belong to various historical periods.
The opening ceremony of the calligraphy show on December 19 is from 4-9 pm. The exhibit will run through December 21 from 11-9 pm. December 22 will be the last day of the event when the auction will start at 5 pm.
“All the works have been verified and authenticated by a committee of experts,” Kazemi said.  The works are owned by art collectors in and outside the country.
