Iranian film ‘Blockage’ directed by Mohsen Qaraei has been nominated for six awards in the second edition of Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFF) slated for February 25-March 3, 2018.

The motion picture is nominated for best direction, best script (Saeed Roustaei), best film, best leading actor (Hamed Behdad), best supporting actress (Giti Qasemi) and best supporting actor (Nader Fallah) awards, ISNA reported. It narrates the story of Qasem, a temporary worker at Tehran Municipality who cracks down on illegal street vendors in Tehran. His temper tantrums always invite trouble. Once he is caught extorting money from some stall owners, which impedes his chance to renew his work contract.

The film has attended several international events so far, winning some awards, including the best film prize at New Currents section of the 22nd Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. MIFF was established in 2016 by a group of influential and outstanding individuals from Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and seeks to offer opportunities and an accessible platform for film producers at the local and international level and promote talent.
