A sculpting exhibition by the accomplished sculptor Abbas Akbari, under the title ‘Iranian Ink in Search of Meaning’ opened Sunday at Aun Gallery in Tehran.
Sculptures of iron and ceramic mix, mostly sold out on the first day itself.
This collection is a “conceptual theme” approach to Iranian calligraphy and the works are published in a 36-page catalogue.
Akbari has earlier presented his works in 15 galleries, and also held a solo exhibition in Paris in 2005. He is a professor at the University of Kashan and has a PhD in arts research.
He won the best architectural tile prize at the 5th Elite Tile triennial this year, in the Dominican Republic, among contestants from 112 countries.
The contemporary art gallery is located on Seoul Street at number 44. The exhibition is on till January 7, 2015.
