Rumi Commemoration at Beheshti University

To commemorate the 13th-century Persian poet, scholar and mystic Rumi, a ceremony will be held on December 15 at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.

The organizers have invited experts on Rumi’s works to share knowledge with those eager to learn more about the accomplished scholar’s mystic teachings, IRNA reported.

Renowned Rumi specialists will address the meeting. Composer and vocalist Aydin Joudi will sing, and a poetry recitation will be held, said manager of the event Saeed Mohammadzadeh-Akbari.  

Rumi specialists from other countries, envoys form Persian-speaking nations and regional UNESCO officials plus 13 ambassadors from non-Persian speaking states will attend.

The conference has received works in various categories including research articles, poetry and prose, music, calligraphy and painting related to Rumi.

Ten selected works will be awarded at the event, Mohammadzadeh-Akbari said.

Beheshti University is located on Daneshjou Blvd., Yemen Street, Chamran Expressway.
