Alzahra University in Tehran is to hold the first student painting expo in mid- winter at Mellat Cineplex. Daryoush Fard-Dehkordi, a faculty member of the university and head of Behzad Gallery in Tehran said the expo will seek to motivate painting students to participate in extracurricular activities. Referring to his own experience, the official said motivation is a key factor in the progress of students. “Such events provide students the opportunity of testing themselves and proving their skills. They also help in promoting interaction between students and gallery owners, art veterans and collectors,” Honaronline quoted him as saying. Dehkordi said visual art students now studying and those who graduated over the past 10 years can participate in the event. January 5, 2018 is the deadline for submission of works. The expo is slated for February 12-26. A group of art professors from universities throughout the country will evaluate the art works and the 10 best paintings will receive awards.
