The 58th Regional Festival of Youth Cinema Arvand, slated for December 24-26, in Abadan, Khuzestan Province, is to honor the celebrated filmmaker Amir Naderi.

As part of the program, Naderi’s performance and his films will be discussed. Photos and reports about him never seen/published before will be presented, Cinematicket.org reported.

Born in the southern city of Abadan, Naderi, 71, made his directorial debut with ‘Goodbye Friend’ in 1971 and soon became one of the best known figures in Iranian film industry. He entered the international spotlight with ‘Tangsir’ (1974). ‘The Runner’ (1985) and ‘Water, Wind, Soil’ (1989) both won the Golden Montgolfiere at Three Continents Festival in Nantes.

He received the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award at the 73rd Venice Film Festival for his significant contribution to a new era of Iranian films last September.

Naderi’s last film ‘Monte’ (Mountain), a joint production of Italy, France and the US, was screened in Iran earlier this year.
