Int’l Theater Festival for Children Opens in Hamedan

The opening ceremony of the 24th International Theater Festival for Children and Youth was held November 30 at Bu-Ali-Sina (Avicenna) Cultural Complex in Hamedan City, capital of Hamedan Province.

Performances began on December 1 with nine plays including six stage performances and three street plays.

‘Pinnochio’ penned and directed by Amir Sheikh Jabali, ‘Golden Fist’ by Mohsen Pourqasemi, ‘Me and the Stubborn Door’ by Mahmoud Teymouri, ‘Boys Are Alone’ by Hamid Qale’ie, ‘Who is the Strongest’ by Somayyeh Monajjem, and ‘Ducks’ Road’ by Farhad Esmaili were the stage performances on the first day, Honaronline reported.

In the section of street plays, Mehdi Saleh’s ‘Green and Green’, Maryam Mehdipour’s ‘Kid and Game’ as well as, Nesa Bakhshi’s ‘To Want and  Be Able To’ were performed in the open grounds of the Cultural and Cinematic Center of Shahid Avini.

Eight countries have participated in the event this year. Performers from Italy, Azerbaijan Republic, France, Denmark, Russia, Germany, South Korea and Turkmenistan are competing in the international section.

The festival has seven sections, namely for children, young adults and infants as well as street, student and international plays. The seventh section is for playwriting competition.

Four workshops are also scheduled during the festival which concludes on December 6.
