A stage reading of the play ‘Arash’, written by acclaimed director, playwright and researcher Bahram Beyzai, is to have a limited performance at Niavaran Cultural Center. It is based on the story of Arash, one of the characters in Shahnameh ‘Book of Kings’, the epic poem written by celebrated Persian poet Ferdowsi (940-1020).

After a long and drawn out war between Iran and its eastern neighbor Turan, the leader of Turan makes a strange and mischievous proposal to end the conflict. It is accepted by the ageing leader in Iran. Based on the proposal, an Iranian soldier should release an arrow from his bow. The bowshot would stay as Iran’s territory and the rest would belong to Turan. Arash is the name of the archer selected for the mission, Tiwall.com reported.

Behzad Babazadeh, Mohammadreza Fahmizi, Saeed Shirazi and Parvaz Najafian will read the text. Mahnaz Rajabi is the director. The venue will stage the show for three nights, starting November 29, at Farhangsara St., across Niavaran Park on Pasdaran St.
