Composer, pianist, guitarist and pop singer Alireza Assar, 47, is to release a new track and hold a concert in the Iranian month of Dey (December 22- January 19).

Assar was warmly welcomed by his fans when he held a live performance last year after an eight-year hiatus.

“In my last year’s concert I got immense energy (backing) from art lovers and I’ve decided to hold my next concert at Milad Hall at Tehran’s International Fairground on January 1,” IRNA quoted him as saying.

Assar began his career as pop singer in 1997. His first album Romantic Migration was released in 1999 and made him one of the most popular singers of the time. He continued his career with musician Fo’ad Hejazi as his co-worker and band director. He published four albums with Hejazi and with him toured many cities across the country. In 2006, Assar collaborated with renowned conductor Shahrdad Rohani and London Symphony Orchestra which resulted in the album ‘Open Secret’ comprising seven pieces inspired by poems from Ahmad Shamlou, Mohammadreza Shafiei-Kadkani and Afshin Yadollahi.
