Autumn Book Sale, organized by the Book House Institute, opened on November 23 with the participation of over 800 bookshops in 31 provinces of Iran. As expected, Tehran Province has the highest number of stores with 132 bookshops. Isfahan is next with 98 bookstores, followed by Qom with 79 stores.
Book enthusiasts can refer to the bookstores participating at sale program and get a 20% discount for adult books and 25% for children’s books, ISNA reported.
In Tehran and provincial capitals, discounts will be offered until December 13. In other cities the offer lasts until December 23.
On the first day of the sale on Thursday, artists, literati and cultural officials visited the bookstores in Tehran and other cities and met with the people in a bid to encourage them to buy books. The news agency said many bookshops were packed with fans who rushed to see their favorite authors and artists and buy books.
At the last such sale organized by the institute in summer, about 500 bookshops participated.
