Tenth Showing of Seven Views

The 10th edition of the art exhibition and auction ‘Haft Negah’ (literally ‘Seven Views’) will open at Niavaran Cultural Center in Tehran on November 24. Over the past nine years, seven Tehran galleries: Aria, Elaheh, Day, Golestan, Mah-e-Mehr, Haft Samar and Vali have organized a group exhibition of diverse works in visual arts.  However, this year the show is missing one of the organizers, ‘Day Art Gallery’, and will be run by six galleries. This has not caused any change in the name of the exhibition. The mission of the joint effort is to promote the economics of art or cultural economics (a branch of economics that studies the economics of creation, distribution, and the consumption of works of art) and introduce genuine artworks at reasonable prices. For the 10th edition, 200 artists have been selected to display their works including paintings, calligraphic paintings and sculptures.  Prices start from 5 million rials ($120) and go up to 8 billion rials ($200,000), Honaronline reported. The works to go on display are by masters of Iranian visual art including celebrated poet and painter Sohrab Sepehri (1928-1980), illustrator and author Parviz Kalantari, painter and graphic designer Aidin Aqdashlou, painter and graphic designer Ali Akbar Sadeqi, veteran artist Masoud Arabshahi, modernist painter Farideh Lashaei (1944-2013), avant-garde sculptor Jazeh Tabatabaei (1931-2008) and painter Mohammad Ali Taraqijah (1943-2010) among others. The show provides an opportunity for new talent to display their works beside works of experienced artists.  Niavaran Cultural Center is located on Pasdaran Avenue, across Niavaran Park.
