International Premiere for Farmanara’s Film in Argentina

Veteran filmmaker Bahman Farmanara’s latest movie ‘I Want To’ will have its international premiere in the ‘Authors’ section of the 32nd Argentinean International Film Festival of Mar del Plata, November 17-26. Mar del Plata is a resort city on Argentina’s Atlantic coast.
The film is a story about a writer, Bahram Farzaneh, suffering from writer’s block, a condition in which an author loses the ability to produce new work or experiences a creative slowdown. After a car accident, Farzaneh discovers the power of a song that puts him back into motion, both physically and creatively.
The movie was first shown at the 35th Fajr International Film Festival in April in Tehran and was welcomed by the audience, Cinematicket.org reported.
The stellar cast includes Reza Kianian, Mahnaz Afshar, Mohammadreza Golzar, Reza Behboudi, Payam Dehkordi, Saber Abar, Roya Nonahali, Behnaz Jafari and Sahar Dowlatshahi among others.
Farmanara, 75, graduated from University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in cinema in 1966. He has written, directed and produced several films. He produced the late Abbas Kiarostami’s first feature ‘The Report’ in 1977, and directed, among others, ‘Smell of Camphor, Fragrance of Jasmine’ (2000), ‘A House Built on Water’ (2001), ‘A Little Kiss’ (2005) and ‘The Familiar Soil’ (2008).

  Children’s Movies
‘A Hell of a Wedding’ by Reza Khatibi is another Iranian production competing in the ‘Children by the Sea’ section of the festival.
Khatibi’s film is about a group of children who at a wedding find out that the groom’s brother is a dangerous drug dealer. But neither their parents nor the police believe the children. So they decide to do something about it themselves.
The short animation of ‘Khalkhali-Fire’ by Ameneh Foroughi from Iran will also attend the same section.
Khalkhali is an Iranian cheetah who lives in a forest and uses his intelligence to protect itself and the environment. A hunter comes to the forest looking for him but cannot outrun the animal because it is too clever and agile and knows how to get around danger.
Established in 1954, Mar del Plata is the only Latin American film festival which was granted a ‘Category A’ by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).
