New details about the underway project and also the last animation of Hayao Miyazaki, the famous Japanese animator is out.

It has now been confirmed that the film will be called in English as ‘How Do You Live?’ Although that does not necessarily mean that will be the official English title. The title is taken from a 1937 book by Japanese author Genzaburō Yoshino. Miyazaki suggests that it is not a straight adaptation, but that the story has great significance to the protagonist of the film.

According to the website Animation for Adults, Miyazaki revealed these early details at a talk held to commemorate the opening of the Natsume Soseki Memorial Museum at Waseda University in Tokyo. He also revealed that he expected it to take three to four years to complete the film.

Beyond these precious morsels, we still know very little about what the film will be. At least if nothing else, this will at least kill off the misconception that it will be a feature-length adaptation of ‘Boro the Caterpillar’ once and for all.

Miyazaki is a Japanese film director, producer, screenwriter, animator, author, and manga artist. A co-founder of Studio Ghibli, a film and animation studio, he has attained international acclaim as a masterful storyteller and as a maker of anime feature films, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest animation directors.

He has been working on the film since some time in 2016, and Studio Ghibli began recruiting staff to work on the new project back in May.
