Iranian short film ‘Alan’ written and directed by Mostafa Gandomkar won the top award at the 14th Konstanz Short Film and Theater Festival held October 21-22 in Germany.

The 22-minute fiction is about Kurdish people in Syria and Iraq who lost their homes in the drawn out and bloody internal strife in the two Middle East countries. It narrates the story of one family suffering from the pain, agony and devastation of war and conflict.

Iranian art director Majid Mohammad-Doost and the Swiss company CUT-UP Distribution are in charge of the international distribution of the film, Mehr News Agency reported.

A total of 400 short films were submitted to the festival. Movies like ‘Limbo’ from France which earlier won at the Tehran Short Film Festival Award and attended Cannes Critics Week 2016 as well as ‘Home’, winner of the 60th BAFTA for best short film in the UK, were among the competing films.
