Sana Sadeghi of Iran won the first prize at ‘Looking at the Stars: the Future of the World’ international painting competition for under-six children held by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and Peace and Cooperation, at a ceremony held at the Vienna International Center, October 20.

Besides Sadeghi, seven other children received their honorary diplomas at the event. Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Reza Najafi received the award on behalf of Iranian participants.

Over the past year, hundreds of children from around the world submitted their artworks showing how the exploration of space can benefit humankind, ISNA reported. Peace and Cooperation is a non-governmental organization that has achieved recognition for its untiring defense of peace and non-violence. One of its most outstanding initiatives has been to recognize, with its “Peace and Cooperation School Award”, the efforts of those who work towards the ideals of peace, multicultural relations and diversity from across continents.
