Shajarian Jr. Commemorates Father

Homayoun Shajarian, son of the great master vocalist of Persian traditional music Mohammad Reza Shajarian, sang at a ceremony commemorating his father, October 10, at the Plaza Stockport in Manchester.
He will also perform at Barbican Center of London on October 12, ILNA reported.
Homayoun, 42, was born in a music-dedicated family in Tehran and is currently one of Iran’s most popular classical vocalists.
Upon his father’s advice, he began studying technique and rhythm under the supervision of Nasser Farhangfar, Iranian master of the tombak - a Persian hand drum - at the age of five.
He was 10 when his father began teaching him Persian traditional vocal (avaz). Simultaneously, he attended Tehran Conservatory of Music and chose Kamancheh (knee fiddle) as his professional instrument.
n 1991, he accompanied his father in concerts of Ava Music Ensemble in the US, Europe and Iran, playing tombak; and from 1999 started accompanying his father in vocals.
His first independent work Nassim-e Vasl, was published in 2003.
