The 20th commemoration ceremony of Hafez, renowned Iranian poet, will be held at the Tehran branch of Kharazmi University on October 11. During the ceremony, sponsored jointly by the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, Society of Hafez Fans, and the Faculty of Literature and Human Science of Kharazmi University, university instructors and scholars will speak on the life and works of the accomplished poet of global fame. According to the public relations office of the Society of Hafez Fans, as part of the event, the organizers will pay tribute to Professor Salim Neisari, a great scholar on Hafez studies. Khaje Shams-ud-Din Muhammad Hafez Shirazi (1315-1390), known by his pen name Hafez (literally meaning 'memorizer' or 'keeper'), was a Persian poet whose works are regarded as a pinnacle of Persian literature. The collection of his sonnets, known as Divan-e Hafez is very popular in the Persian-speaking world. His life and poems has been the subject of much analysis, commentary and interpretation, influencing post-14th century Persian writing more than any other author.
