‘Malaria’ is a 2016 Iranian drama written and directed by Parviz Shahbazi. It premiered in the Horizons section at the 73rd Venice Film Festival in September 2016 and  later won the Grand Prix at the 2016 Warsaw International Film Festival.
The story is about a young girl who informs her father she’s been kidnapped and asks him to bring the ransom money. In panic, her father and brothers go to find her apparently unaware of the real story behind the case. The cast includes Saghar Ghana’at, Saed Soheili, Azarakhsh Farahani and Azadeh Namdari. The movie is currently on screen in several cinemas across Iran, and tickets are available at Cinematicket.org.
