Acclaimed Turkish multidisciplinary artist Hale Tenger will address the 7th edition of Tehran National Sculpture Biennial (September 5-October 14) at Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art. Tenger will arrive from Istanbul to give the speech on October 9-10 at TMoCA. She will share her vast experience in using various mediums and materials in creation of artwork. She is primarily known for her large scale installations based on an elaborate combination of unconventional use of materials, audio, and video. Presence and experience is a key element in her installations. Power and violence, oppression and repression, both in society and self, are often questioned in her works. Audio input is integrated into most of her works in a variety of ways, either as exclusive music, as a narrative or arrangement of archival recordings. Her works have been featured in prominent international institutions including the Centre Pompidou, Paris; Art Gallery of Western Australia; ARTER, Istanbul; Neuer Berliner Kunsverein, Berlin; Boghassian Foundation, Brussels; Istanbul Modern, Istanbul; Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton, Paris; Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam; Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Vienna; Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin; and the Seoul Museum of Art in South Korea. Palais des Beaux Arts de Lille and Carré d’Art Nimes Museum of Contemporary Art in France; Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem and Van Abbemuseum of Eindhoven in the Netherlands; and Protocinema and the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York are among other venues that have shown her works.
