Two Iranian films ‘The Home’ and ‘Life Without Life’ are to compete at the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) slated for next month where celebrated Iranian filmmaker Reza Mirkarimi will serve as a member of the jury.

TIFF will showcase a lineup of outstanding films from around the world in nine main sections, ISNA reported.

In the Competition Section, which is the highlight of the festival, 15 feature films that were completed after January 2017 will be shown.

The International Competition jury of five international cineastes will announce awards for the Tokyo Grand Prix, Special Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Artistic Contribution and Best Screenplay.

Written, directed, and produced by Asghar Yousefinejad, ‘The Home’, in Turkish language, is a drama that tells the story of a woman named Sayeh who has not been in contact with her family since her marriage six years ago. When her father dies, she returns home only to find that his body has to be sent for an autopsy as per her father’s will.

The 90-minute movie ‘Life Without Life’, directed by Kaveh Moeinfar, is about a music instructor whose father is dying from lung cancer. He visits people who owe his father money in order to get repaid.
