Museums managed by Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), will close an hour earlier in the second half of the current fiscal year (started March 21), a senior official announced.

Speaking to ILNA, Mohammadreza Kargar, director of ICHHTO Museums and Historical Moveable Properties Office said that the museums’ opening hours is 9 am-6 pm as of Sept. 21.

The official time in Iran was adjusted backward by one hour at midnight on Thursday to observe Daylight Saving Time (DST).

Kargar provided details on the museum closure days. “The ICHHTO-affiliated museums will be closed on the upcoming Tasua and Ashura (Sept. 30 and Oct. 1) during the month of Muharram,” he noted. The two days commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), the Third Shiite Imam in 680 AD.
