Acclaimed Artists Giving to Charity

Behnam Gallery in Tehran is holding a charity exhibition of visual arts from September 14-26.

The gallery is run by the Behnam Daheshpour Charity Organization, a Tehran-based NGO that helps cancer patients. Earnings of the gallery go for the treatment of cancer patients, Honaronline reported.

The exhibit, third of its series, had two opening ceremonies on September 14 and 15, held from 4-8 pm. On the following days, visiting hours are 12 noon to 7 pm.

On display are 50 artworks  by renowned artists. Sculptures, photographs and paintings are on show. Prices start from one million rials ($26).

Master calligrapher and calligraphic painter Ahmad Aryamanesh is among participating artists. He has created an innovative typeface named ‘Kereshmeh’ which has been widely used in graphic art, typography and logo design.

Sculptor, calligrapher and poet Bahman Azmoudeh is another prominent  participant. He is mainly known by his slender sculptures with calligraphic curvatures.

Paintings by veteran experimental painter Abdolmajid Pazouki is among the featured works.

Painter and sculptor Ramin Etemadi Bozorg, expressionist sketch artist and painter Sahar Khalkhalian and painters Homa Bazr-Afshan and Shideh Tami are also displaying their works.

“Some of the featured works are gifts from benevolent artists who have supported us in the past,” said manager of the gallery Nafiseh Emdadi. “Some others are from collectors who have given the artworks to support cancer patients. There are several works part of whose sales will go to charity.”
