TMoCA Holding Sculpture Biennial

The 7th edition of Tehran National Sculpture Biennial will open September 5 and will run through October 14.

Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMoCA) will host the biennial whose title and main theme is ‘Situation,’ Honaronline reported.

‘Situation’ is the theme of the biennial. Participants have been encouraged to localize their works and adapt them with three situations defined in the three sub-themes of ‘local situation’, ‘para-local situation’ and ‘introspective situation.’  

Works from 23 provinces are participating. Tehran has the biggest contribution, next is Alborz followed  by Isfahan,  Mazandaran, Yazd, Fars and Khorasan Razavi respectively.

Tehran International Sculpture Biennial is organized under the auspices of the Tehran-based Association of Iranian Sculptors, Visual Arts Department of the Culture Ministry and the Institute for Promotion of Contemporary Visual Art, affiliated to TMoCA.

This edition of the biennial will hold a ceremony to honor veteran Iranian sculptor Victor Daresh for his contributions to the academic majors of sculpture in the country.

Daresh, 79, is a renowned sculpture professor at Tehran University, Faculty of Art. He was an art adviser to Tehran Beautification Organization on sculpture projects.

TMoCA is located on Kargar Street, between Keshavarz Blvd and Fatemi Street.
