The Iranian feature film ‘Under the Smoky Roof’, directed by Pouran Derakhshandeh, will be screened in 10 German cities in early October.
The movie is slated to be shown in Frankfurt, Bonn, Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Darmstadt, Koblenz, Guben, Karlsruhe and Varnheim at Kinepolis cinema chains. Filmiran Europa is the company responsible for screening the movie in Germany, Mehr News Agency reported.
Derakhshandeh’s movie, starring Farhad Aslani and Merila Zarei, deals with the social and emotional dilemma of divorce in Iranian culture.
It is about Shirin who has problems with her husband and child and is searching for a way to communicate with them but instead she faces a new crisis.
Behnoush Tabatabaee, Nafiseh Roshan, Hesam Navab-Safavi, Houshang Tavakoli, Maryam Boubani, Hadi Marzban, Fariba Motekhases, Azita Hajian and Shahram Haqiqatdoust are among the cast in the latest production of Iran’s renowned female director.
The movie was screened at the 35th Fajr Film Festival. It was nominated for six different sections for the Crystal Simorgh award and won the best actress as well as best make-up design awards.
